With a Remington 7 mag ADL & 24" 243 varmint barrel I cut my first chamber ever then
threaded it for a Pac Nor barrel nut. Got it all put together sized three 6.5 rem mag cases.
Beings there is no load data for it I started with 6-284 loads which holds 5 grains less water than
the 6-350 rem mag. So the 6-284 load for 70 grain bullet is 45 grains of imr 4320.
I have went up to 50 grains so far with not any kind of pressure signs.
I really think that this caliber will equal the 6-06 Ackley.
The shoulder angle is the same as factory 6.5 rem mag 28 degrees I believe.
Now I have 3 new toys to play with
6-350 rem mag
6-06 Ackley
22-243 Ackley
plus my 220 swift that is shooting 40 grainers at 4463 FPS

You obviously don't care to keep a barrel around very long! ;D

WHEN YOU CAN BUY TAKE OFF BARRELS SO CHEAP WHY NOT ENJOY THE FULL EXTENT OF
SHOOTING WHAT EVER YOU WANT
This may surprize you my barrel was a take off I bought for $50.00 the reamer
$35.00 and dies were $25.00 so where can you get a new barrel for $110.00
the 4320 charge I did get up to 59.0 grains with sticky bolt with a 70 grain Btip so backed off to 56.0 grains and shot a 3 shot group in one hole so I have a winner.
the max load for the 6-284 was 45.0 grains.

I know what you're talking about! I got a barrel here on the cheap and sent it to Sinman to be re-worked. It's now a 22-6mm Rem launching 80g Noslers......with the break, there is hardly any recoil.

If I actually had the equipment/knowledge to do my own barrels, I'd be flat broke! ;D

I worked for 43 years as a machinist in space & air craft work.
And still have all of my machines from my machine shop when I retired in 2002.
so it comes easy for me now to enjoy my shooting habit.

I am going to rent a room from Okie!

My last project (not finished with load development yet) is a factory Savage barrel that has been rechambered to something a little more fun.

Sounds like a neat caliber/ build. Any pictures? Also, what kind of velocity are you looking at or shooting for w/ 140gr. tips?

maybe I should start a school.
What caliber was it rechambered too?
your missing a lot of fun if you don't have a 6-06 ackley.

I have chambered multiple barrels in 223 AI. Of course the next morph was a 222 Magnum AI, just run the 223 AI reamer a touch deeper, and neck up 204 Ruger brass. 222 Magnum brass is expensive and sometimes hard to find.

My last rendition, goal of launching a 55 gr bullet at 3900 fps from the 223/222 Mag size of case. Went even deeper with the 223 AI reamer to take advantage of any case capacity that I could muster. Started a thread about this, but time has not been on my side to finish it. Have been trying a variety of powders and have a couple more to go. So far, 3800 is a walk in the park....just closing in on the last 100 fps. Hopefully soon. :)

What caliber are you asking about for 140 grain

Okie 2- Sorry, my bad, I thought it was a 6.5-350rem mag. I have been shooting a 260AI and was wanting to step up to some way overbore caliber like that or a 6.5 SAUM that launches a 140Gr. VLD w/ a 26" bbl faster than 2935fps. Any suggestions? I was thinking the 6.5 x 7mmSAUM would be the ticket. Thought you did a 6.5 on a necked down 350Rem mag.

how about a 140 grain at 3145?
I get this in my 6.5 rem mag in a 26" barrel and it is not a barrel burner.
but best used in a long action. It also runs along side the 264 mag.
look at these loads

After playing with the 6-06 ackley and the 6-6.5 rem mag.
any load in one works in the other. I have used the 70, 85, & 95 sst.
I like the 85's best
