H 4350 vs IMR 4350

I have a 6.5 x 47 lapua that I am doing some load work on. I have read that H 4350 is a good choice as well as a few other powders.

I don't have any H 4350 but I do have IMR 4350. I believe the burn rates are very close. Would IMR 4350 be ok to try ?

I personly like IMR 4350 better than H4350, it just worked better in my 6x47L. The burn rate are close, but they are still diferent. Work up to loads with caution.

H4350 is a Hodgdon Extreme powder. This product line is marketed for extreme temperature insensitivity (in appropriate loads) and extreme lot to lot consistency.

I've read imr- and h-4350 are NOT the same, so you should not interchange load data without appropriate work-ups.

I'm about to buy some of this for my .30-06 loads. The only other powder i'm really interested in is Ramshot Hunter.

I found some Berger load info. They have IMR 4350 on the list with starting and max data, so I'll give it a try.

Never tried any of the H 4350 but three out of four rifles two 243s and a 270 love IMR 4350 so thats about all I load

When I was shooting 243 Win at 600 yards in comp I noticed that when the gun was sighted in using IMR 4350, and I switched to H4350 using the same load, ETC, the H 4350 would shoot about 1 foot higher.

I have loaded and used both forms of 4350 powders. Both will work in the same cartridges but the load data is not interchangeable. In my experience, H4350 is a little faster than IMR4350. In my .30-06 based rifles (25-06, 30-06, 270 Win) IMR4350 seems to provide better accuracy results. In my .308 based rifles (.243, .260, .308) H4350 seemed to get better accuracy. As eluded to in a previous post, I get equivalent velocities with less H4350 powder in the case when compared to IMR4350. My .25 WSSM loves H4350 and kinda likes IMR4350. Both will work, but I will stick with my 1/2" or less groups from the H brand when compared to around 1" groups from IMR.

I use H4350 in my 270 and from the data i have seen, H4350 is close to IMR in terms of burn rates, but the H4350 is more consistent, making for more accurate loads. However, your gun might shoot, the IMR more accurately for no apparent reason, but this is unlikely and I doubt this will be significant. So, I say go Hodgdon.
