I was wondering if it's practical to anneal case necks with a camping stove, either a propane/isobutane backpacking canister stove or a white gas stove.

I'm thinking I could use the Hornady annealing kit with the drill attachment and the indicator cream.

Not going to get hot enough. A Berzn-o-matic propane torch works and they can be had cheaply at Home Depot or Lowes.

Why won't it get hot enough? i used to melt lead for muzzle loader bullets on a coleman stove and that is hot enough to anneal brass.

Will it work? yes is it pratical? i wouldn't think so due to space constrants getting to the burner. as helo said a benz-o-matic is much easier to use.

I would think the cartridge would get to hot before the neck would get hot enough therefore ruining the cartridge. Just my thinking.

all you need is a propane torch, bucket of water and 2 of the fingers you were born with.

You might not need the water but the fingers are a given. ;D
