OK...I've got her built up to shoot. 1993 LA 110FP heavy barrel from the factory in .308. Choate Tactical LA Stock, 99% sure she is a stagger feed.

I want to have a second varmint/bill/heavy barrel in 30-06 (group buy ;D) and install to have the capability to shoot both. Eventually I'll pick up another SA and build a dedicated 308 and have a dedicated 30-06. BUT UNTIL THEN...the blind magazine on FP looks like its made fo r308 family and wont take 30-06 length cartridges... so whats a guy to do?

Will they fit? I've got .308 and its fits with a little room to spare but 30-06 doesn't look like its gonna squeeze in there at about .45" longer.

Is there another magazine part # I can order from Numrich or another vendor?

Midway sells the 30-06 magazine boxes and followers.

The year that one was built might be when Savage had no true SA. Probably just needs a magazine box swap to run the 30-06 length cartridge.

It is a pre-real short action on a 110 action. Check the magazine and see if it has a spacer in ther rear to shorten the magazine for the .308. If it does, take it out and put in a proper spring and follower. I think you will find that the bolt will need a different baffle to let the bolt go all the way to the rear for the 30-06.

Nope...just took some measurements...Outside dimension of mag box is 3.03" inside is 2.93" so its a .308 mag...also the action is a LA in SA configuration meaning that the bottom of hte action is cut only enough for the SA mag box to work...If I want to swap itover to 30-06 I'll have to have the bottom of the action opened up and new feed ramps cut...might need a shorter baffle like someone said but my gut says not that it comes far enough to the rear to strip of a larger round...

Looks like I'm gonna be shooting a lot of .308 out of her for a while...
