thoughts 6.5x55 Axis

Just thinking here while Im at work,

And wondered how a nice long loaded 6.5 sweede would fit in an Axis mag? I think, if it fits, it would make one helluva hunting rifle and a pretty light set up.

I dont own you so I can only speculate.
What are your thoughts?

Im thinking that since the action is more of an intermediate length that these great performace rounds like the 6.5 sweede, 6.5x57, and 7 mauser would have a strong/modern action to make good use of.

Just a thought tho.

I'm determined to get a 6.5 Swede someday. I'm currently thinking it will go on a Lightweight Hunter long action with an Accustock, but that would be pricey. I may go back to my original plan to put the Swede on a stainless Axis action with Rifle Basix trigger.

Did y'all decide you could do this? I think I'm going to try. What caliber axis should I start with?

It should not be a problem. Get yourself a long action Axis (270, 25-06, or 30-06), swap and headspace the new barrel and you will be good to go.
