Anyone run the light 85-100 gr bullets in their 6.5 ? 95gr VMAX ? I would appreciate anyone sharing their load info.

Any benefit to the lighter ones for critters and such ? (compared to the 120-140 class)

My barrel is a 1:8, would that be to fast for a 95gr going 3200 ? (Hornady lists 95gr VMAX loads in 6.5 Creedmoor at 3300 in a 1:8 twist)

Just looking for some experience if anyone has some to share.

Remember that "fast" is not the issue with bullets, it's rotation. That is what destroys bullets. I think all V-max's are created equal, I'm out of the state or I could give you the RPM limit for the 22 Vmax's. IIRC the limit is around 370,000 RPM.
Here is your formula: MV x (12/twist rate in inches) x 60 = Bullet RPM

Any bullet company worth their salt will give you an approximate(barrel smoothness depending) RPM limit. If they can't, well that speaks volumes about them.

With my 264 I pushed the 95's as hard as I could with no issues. Was FANTASTIC on coyotes out to 400.

HI I have a sendero in 264 win mag and have them 85 gr sierra's screeming at over 4000 fps with no problem, it is more like a laser than a projectile.

Hi I don't plink or target shoot with those loads, but I have to admit it comes in real handy when you are in one zip code and that yote in an other ;D

I have shot the 95g VMax in my 260AI, using Alliant MR2000 at 48grains I was around 3300 fps I believe.

Not sure how they do on critters but if they explode better than 140Amax's you ain't gonna have any critter left at all. I shot a coyote at about 200yrds with the Amax running about 2880 and it blew a massive hole in him.

I was wondering how the A-Max's were on coyotes and pdogs. Thought the 95gr might be better to play with the pdogs. They arent any cheaper than the A-max bullets, so I may not mess with them besides the 100 I picked up last night. (living close to Cabelas gets expensive).

If your wanting to keep any fur don't use the Amax's. The 95's i have just shot at paper and steel so far,I shot a handful of them out to 1000 and they seemed to do well.

I put up a pic in the varmint section in the coyote killed thread what the 140's do to yotes.

For my .260 I use the 100 grain nosler partition for my deer/pig load and it is very effective. The drawback is nosler bullets are kinda pricy in my opinion.

Rifle is Remington Model 7

I run IMR 4064 in my 260. 100s really cook and groups are excellent. I've clocked them at 3400 from my 28" criterion. Still room to go pressure wise but I bought the longer barrel so I don't have to run the ragged edge to get velocity.
