Im considering selling my custom stock as im building another off of a bvss stock. This stock started as one of the boyds sporter thumbhole stocks. all of the added wood is oak, polished aluminum butt plate, paint is ppg vibrance. bedded with acra-glass. no flaws very slick clear all work done by me(body and paint guy). i have no idea as to what to price it at. I know that basically its just a boyds but stocks of the similar shape are around 300. so what do you all think its worth or what would you pay. ???

Well you certainly do beautiful work!
If I was you I would try for $300, see if you get any bites.

Personally that is a pretty stock, which I have no interest in. So I think you may sit on it for a while until you find the right customer. Don't despair, and be patient. That will sell, to beautiful not to.

What is it set up for?

Bolt spacing?

I would figure the cost of the stock when you got it, and what you think the paint job is worth. To me it looks immaculate, and usually paint jobs on gunstocks are not cheap.

well a buddy gave me the stock for building a cowl hood and painting his cj5, heck of a deal huh? and ive got about 8 hours and maybe a hundred bucks in materials and paint so i guess two grand should catch it lol. more serious note its a staggerfeed short action. its a really pretty stock and i like the way it sits but that thumbhole is just not the feel of the big palmswelled feel of the bvss stock i have.

I could see maybe $300.00 without too much of a problems. Don't figure too much for your labor. That'll never happen. ::) At least stock and paint. And paint like that doesn't come cheap. ;) Looks real good no matter what. ;D

Very nice work!

If you think it's worth $300 (and it is) to you then list it in the classifieds and see what happens. I wouldn't think it would be that hard to sell since it's pretty different than than anything else you normally see.
