What screw size and thread pitch are the Savage screw holes on a 1993 Flat back LA? I've got an EGW 20MOA I've take off to paint the rifle and dont want to re-use the same screws...they look to be 6-40 or 6-32 but I dont know anyone know for sure? Old ones are pretty buggered up with loctite and while I guess I could give them a soak in acetone and reuse them I'd rather not...

That's correct and it's not a standard hardware or home center thread pitch. You will have to get replacement screws from a gunsmith, a gun shop that installs scope bases or from the manufacturer of the base. They are also available from various internet shooting supply places like Brownells and Midway. Actually it might be just as easy to buy a new base and use the screws that come with it.

EGW has replacement mount screws available on their web site for very reasonable prices.

I actually soaked the screws in acetone and they cleaned up like new......the EGW mount was not that old, so I re-used them...a little blue loctite and taaadaaaaaaa...good as new...
