Hello new to board and looking for a replacement barrel for my 1899 30-30. Looking for new or used or a gunsmith that can make me one from a blank. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I would check out http://sharpshootersupply.com. Give Fred a call and see what he would advise.

Check with Sinman of Sinarms (sponser here) as well. That would be a custom job - no one is "set up" to crank out 99 rebarrels these days.

What is wrong with your barrel? If it has a pitted or rusty bore and is otherwise good, a rebore (32 Special or 35-30) might be cheaper and easier.

Even if you could get one fitted you would have the added expense of a new front sight and rear sight dovetailed in.. The 99 barrels arent like a barrel with a nut. It has to be fitted and the chamber finish reamed to chamber dimensions. I doubt if there are many gunsmiths out there that can do that. It might be possible to have a prechambered barrel with a nut fitted depending on how th bolt head is made. Some research on that would have to be done. For instance, is the bolt head rim contained in the barrel or is it in the bolt head?

There is a cut out in the face of the breech for the extractor so it's a tough job. A rebore would be much cheaper and keep the looks of the old rifle.
