i know the wife has been on me tonight about it i might send her to get it in the morning.

You've got a good wife! If I asked mine to do that she would tell me where to go.

Yeah, not sure mine would tell me where to go... but she would definitely laugh and give me that look, like where have you been for the last 25 years ;D

I've had mine for 37 years.

I hear some good things about the .338 edge. If your going o build a magnum may as well go all out!

That was in the running but the short barrel life (100 rounds) ruled it out

barrel life is a big thing for me i'm thinking 300win mag for now then either 6br or a 284 somwthing that i can mainly shoot @ 300yds but maybe 500 3 times a year in f open class..

The 6br would be very hard to beat for your application. You might also check out the 6XC, lot of info on both cartridges at accurateshooter.com

I'm in the same boat. Last year I picked up a 112 BVSS in .300 Win Mag to use as my heavy rifle. Now I want to rebuild my old 110 30-06 into something that I might shoot more instead of just keeping as a spare.

Right now I'm thinking 25-06 as brass is easy, and I can use it on everything from small critters to deer. Plus there is alot of factory ammo available so I don't have to start loading for it right away.
