Thought I'd try to use it when I swap barrels.

Thanks.

Savage parts.....

But why ? You'll need a new wrench to tighten...

I destroyed a smooth one removing it....using the old style nut on new project....

Another potential problem is having the smooth nut finish up so the hole is hidden when the headspace is correct. It's strictly an appearance thing but isn't that the purpose of the smooth nut? The fluted nuts don't matter how they are oriented when tight since they are symetrical all around.

Not all of them have holes. Some are smooth all the way around.
