If you have Academy stores need you, they have put Stevens 200s on sale in December and January for the last couple of years. Last year they were $179 at my store. They go fast.... Luck, Tim

academy, i called my local one and they said they don't stock them. Might have to find one local at pawn shop if i can't find someone with the short action one. thanks

They only have the Stevens 200s for special sales. You just have to watch for them. Sometimes they don't even know until they show up at the Academy stores. At that is the intel report from I guy I know that works the gun counter at my local Academy. Make not be the same else where. Luck, tim

Not all Academy's sell the Stevens (or any Savage for that matter).

For a semi-custom build, hit as many pawn shops as you can in your area and get a decent used older Savage. You can sometimes find these under $200 out the door if you haggle enough.

If you look in pawn shops be sure you dont get an older Savage that shoots a short action cartridge out of a long action model 110. Before Savage made a true short action they used long actions with mods to fire the short action cartridges and converting them is a real pain. Look for a real short action marked model with 2 digit model numbers like 10, 12 etc. or a Stevens real short action.

Why would you need to convert them if you want to shoot a short action cartridge?
