Case heads are about the same size. Any real world experience with the bolt head and am I going to have any issues with the bolt head slapping a 243 barrel on in place of the 6.5?

Nope. Both calibers use the same bolt head.

Ok good. Thanks for your help. Is there any place to look up the spec to see what the detach mag length is so I can tell what kind of OAL I can achieve with those rounds?

3.0" even on mine. My factory chamber seems short so I have about .5" to spare.

I am curious, why the swap? The 6.5 seems like it would be so much better. Is it to use on varmint?

Its a savage. I can change it back and forth in 5 min.

I am doing the opposite. Going from .243 to 6.5 Creedmoor. This will be my first build. Just recieved my barrel from Jim @Northland.

I'm wanting a 6.5 Creedmore barrel for my F/TR from Jim. Can't get ahold of him and there isn't a 'Large Shank' barrel on his CBI barrels post... :( Looks like a great caliber though... I was thinking of going shorter than 30" like 26 or 28 this thing is friggin' huge...

I wonder how that Savage 'take-off' (26") from an LRP would shoot it's $275 ?

Savage factory barrels can be real tack drivers.
