savage model 11 bolt hang up

on my model 11 when you open the bolt all the way it seems to wanna hang up just a bit when you go to push it back in. Its not as smooth as most I have felt for some reason. Any ideas why? I looked at and Im not sure what its hitting maybe the internal box mag???

Check the underside of your bolt to see if it is hitting the magazine. Yours is a centerfeed, correct? If so, the mag box may be sitting just a bit too high.

I had a problem with my bolt hanging up a bit. I noticed it more so when I started torquing my action screws. I think it was binding in the action a bit.

After I bedded the action, it went away.

Had the same problem in my savage, found out the channel in the stock for the magazine to fit was not deep enough. As you tighten the action screws the part of the action where the magazine is contacts the stock causing pressure on the action. You could bed it or you could grind off some of the steel on the magazine guide. Or you can take some material out of the stock to create room.
