Hello, first time poster here with a question. I am thinking of purchasing a Savage .308 from a friend of mine. I am unsure of the exact model, it says 10 on the barrel.

Its a .308, 20in heavy barrel, 4.275 screw spacing, blind mag attached to action, large bolt handle, accutrigger, no accustock, 3 pos safety.

The rifle appears to be in good shape cosmetically and mechanically except for one thing. The top of the safety is getting chewed up by the bottom of the bolt. This seems abnormal to me. What gives?

The model should be a 10FP. It should have a matte finish on the metal.

As for the safety issue, this can happen sometimes when someone comtinues to pull UP hard on the bolt as they are sliding it back. If you try to cycle the bolt normally, without forcing it, you should notice that it does not rub the safety. It may rub the action area beside the safety on the left side though, which is normal.
