I just got my lee loader and powder scale, I was just wondering what a good hot load was for what i have. I have 130gr Sierra GameKing spitzer BT's, Hodgdon H4350, and CCI #200 primers. I am looking for velocity. (this is for my axis in 270)

If you want velocity then you might want to try RL-17. If you plan to stick with H4350 then 54.0- 55.5grs. you will find a good node. H4831 or H4831SC at 60grs works great too. Both should get you over 3000 fps.

+1 on the Reloder 17. Most people getting around 3200fps before running into pressure with 130 grain bullets. It has a very similar burn rate to the 4350 powders, so you can start with load data for them and work that way. very accurate in my .270 as well! But you should be able to get to 3000fps or so with the H4350. The deer probably will not complain about the 200fps difference.

I've had a hell of a time getting a good load for my first rifle, a Savage 110 22" .270 Win...to the point where I have a 30-06 barrel waiting on the shelf. The 'old standby' of 60gr H4831SC and a 130gr bullet gave me 3050fps but didn't provide accuracy better than 1.5" @ 100yd with either 130gr Nosler Ballistic Tips or 130gr Sierra Gamekings. Also unacceptable accuracy from 140gr HPBT Gamekings. I'm not looking for benchrest accuracy, but 3 shots from a cold bore at or inside an inch @ 100yd is my baseline for a hunting rifle. Factory Remington 130gr Core-Lokt got me pretty close, but surely I can do better than that...

I think I've finally found something that works - 56.0gr H4831SC and a 150gr Sierra Gameking, loaded 0.010" off the lands. First two shots in the same hole, third a pulled flyer 1.5" right, fourth shot about a half inch from the first two and velocity averaging 2830fps.

Got 4 more loaded up today, and if they duplicate performance I'll be giddy.

First time post on here , I was having the same issues with my 110 in 270 the rifle shot 150 GR rem corelockett very well and I found the 140 GR Sierrra BTSP and IMR 4350 works well in mine . The cold bore plus three more will go into a inch or less at 100 with the first shot a little off of the group this was the first rifle I ever bought and it will be given to my son as it will not leave my house ! good luck finding what yours likes

I just loaded up about 2 dozen of them with 55gr of the H4350. Yes, I know, I am going to make a few underpowered loads to work up from before i shoot any 55gr loads.

Do you guys think it would be dangerous to start at 54.5gr?

starting loads are just that,...where you should start. work up a few of each powder weight and approach the max loads while observing accuracy, and signs of pressure.
As for having a rifle that won't group smaller then 1.5" at 100 yds. that is about what my 8x57 mauser does with the 185 remmie corelokts and I took my first elk with that at a bit over 400 yds. reallisicly what range will be your farthest shots?

In my 24 inch barrel 60 grains of RL22 and 130 grain Nosler BT produces both good velocity and accruacy.

A little off the subject but I have been getting very good accruacy in a 30/06 using RL22 and a 208 grain Amax.

I went to the range and shot 10 54.5 grain loads that really shot nice. I think i will stick with this load. Honestly, i dont think i will ever have shot opportunities over 250yd, here in florida, it is very heavily wooded, so there are few open fields that i would get anything near 200 yd, but the ranch i hunt in oklahoma, the biggest open field is about 300 yd across.
