Hello everyone, I recently installed a new safety on my older savage rifle and am having difficulties figuring out the trigger. There are 2 screws in the rear of the trigger and one at the front. I know that the front is for sear engagement, one of the rears is for trigger over travel and one is for the safety...could someone please help me with which one is which and maybe some tricks that would help me adjust them!? Thanks!
Henry.

Look in the FAQ section at top of the page. You have what is called a 3-screw trigger.

Thanks for the tip thirty06, i used the thread to help me adjust it but now that its all adjusted my safety is snagging the bolt and i cant operate the safety by thumb. i tried backing the screw out on the safety all the way and i am able to operate it then but the bolt snags then, if i put the screw in all the way then the bolt wont snag anymore but i cant operate the safety...so frustrated lol...looking forward to your help and tips.

Tighten it until the safety does not operate. then back of in eight turns until you can operate the safety and the bolt on half safety without the trigger going off. Make sure you have enough spring pressuer to keep the seer engaged while cocking. You will get it.. just keep trying and always do a bump test at a minimum.

stangfish, i tried doing what you said, got the bolt to not ride on the safety, got the safety to go on and off (without the bolt in the gun) but...safety still wont function with the bolt in...duno what the deal is, so prolly just goin to pull the safety and use the rifle without it. Thanks for your help anyways!

Similar issue with mine, but I haven't taken the time to try and adjust it.

Anyways, I've found that I can engage the safety by using another cartridge (or empty brass) but that I can disengage the safety with a flick of the thumb.

actualy rick mine is about the same bout 3 in 10 times i can get it to disengage, but have to pry to get it on, which is how i broke the first one. anyways, even when the safety was on, testing the trigger proved that it wasnt safe anyways...so i pulled it. never hunted with a gun without having one in the chamber, have to get used to that with this one...also thought about blocking the "hole" that the safety leaves when you take it out.... havent thought about this one enough so im just goin to let it be and watch it so that debris doesnt "clog" it or the trigger.

If the safety switch is "hitting" the bolt, you didn't install it correctly.
