Has any one used JB weld to bed an action?

I have uses JB Weld. If you do a search on here for bedding, you will find others have as well. The only problem with JB Weld is the product tends to run. You may want to let it set a bit after mixing, or just make sure any areas you don't want it to run to are well taped.

Well that ship has sailed. I used regular JB Weld. First time bedding, I am worrying about everything.

Ah well, if its screwed, I can use my dremel to clean it up and start over.

Sean, I use JB weld but, primarily for smaller stuff like scope bases because its so easy to mix in small quantities & 1 to 1 mix ratio makes it even easier. I've never had a problem with it being runny. It stands to reason that a bit more set up time might be appropriate should you experience that problem. I also like the fact that regular JB weld contains powdered metal, which I believe counter-acts shrinkage found in other epoxies. I've never found any shrinkage on scope base applications....... I use Devcon #10110 for action bedding but, the more I use JB the more convinced I am that it will work just as well. Just my .02 :)

OK, the action/barrel doesnt want to seperate from the stock...... Into the freezer for a few hours!!

It busted right loose!! I have a few voids, but I am not really worried about it. I did have some JB Weld that ran a bit. I may need to take a dremel to it later. I will know more later.

Lesson learned, use a LOT more release agent than you think you need. I have spots of JB Weld here and there. No big deal.

I also dinged my stock a bit when I was smacking the studs with my hammer. >:( A little Johnsons paste wax and alll is well.

Use Kiwi shoe polish as a release agent. Rub it on and then wipe it off never had a problem

I mistakenly bedded the tang because I didn't know any better but after I cleared the area, groups tightened right up.

All done.

The JB Weld has set up and the action comes out easy enough. It isnt the smoothest surface on top of the bedding. I had a bunch of bubbles, but I am the only one that gets to see that part of the rifle!!

Now I'm off to the range tomorrow and see how she shoots.

I went out this morning and was able to shoot for a bit. I shot 5 different three round groups at 200 yds.

The last one was the winner. Just over 3/4" at 200 yds. Not bad for a factory barrel, it looks like the bedding worked wonders.
