View Full Version : What's a good mid priced stock?

I have a new model 12 FVSS and it needs a better stock. The factory stock is pretty flimsy, if I
move my shooting bag out much past the barrel nut my groups really start opening up.

Not looking to break the bank, but don't expect something for nothing either. I'd really like to find a LH with a RH bolt.

Thanks

Perhaps something like the Choate Ultimate Varmint might be worth looking into. The stock, imo is universal except for the bolt.

Try Boyd's I believe they make what you want. Laminate stocks for around $100.

Well what is it that you call "mid priced?"
SSS stocks is what I call mid priced at $324.00
Higher priced stocks would be like a Shehane, McMillian ($511.00), Maners, joel Russo, ETC
Low cost stocks would be like a Stockys Boydes ETC.

Thanks guys, The B&C Medalist looks good, I looked at some of the cheaper laminated stocks at stockys but I'm afraid if I buy one I'll be in the same boat that I am now.

The boyds stock isn't flimsy. it is however made with wood.

theres always stockade, best stocks IMO in the 200-300 dollar range if you get the moneysaver.

I really like the Elk Stalker, but there is a 14-16 week wait.

I ordered the Elk Stalker from Stockade, hopefully it'll be here by mid Feburary.

Thanks for the input, Justin

i was going to get an elk stalker as well, but i saw the rollover cheek thumbhole and fell in love with it. since making it lefty is something new to him, he said it would be about a 4-5 month wait, so im waiting until February as well, what kind of package did you get?

I got the money saver with a extra swivel stud in the for end. I was afraid to order a left hand stock, I would love to have a left hand thumb hole but I'm afraid I'd have to eat it if I ever sold the rifle. The Elk Stalker is a in between stock, it has a large thumb hole and can be shot right or left. Plus I like the looks and the grip better than the B&C Medalist.

nice, i like the elk stalker, it reminds me of a rifle i shot when i was a little kid that got me into the world of rifles. i got the rollover with a bottom metal for aics mags, a tactical bolt handle and a bolt lift kit, its gonna be a long wait :'(
