I have a nice Weaver K4 to put on my 99.

I want the scope low. I will use Weaver 2 piece mounts. Can I get by with low rings or will I need medium.

The Weaver site notes that there is only about 0.070 difference betwen low and medium.

Maybe I should just use the med or take the gun to the shop with me and try em.

Is it a 99 that is already drilled and tapped? If not....

Sorry - can't really help you there. There are so many different K4s out there (from early ones with no objective bell at all, to "micro trac" models with a small bell to the various modern ones.

Best bet would be to measure your objective and ask Weaver or take the rifle with you to buy rings. All in all, I would bet that the low rings will fit.

You will probably be best with mediums on a 99.I have one with lows but the bell is close on an older redfield.

20 yrs ago I bought a 99 with the rotary magazine in .308. Mounted a scope, k-6 weaver with no mounting problems, At sight in I couldnt find the paper at 50 yds using all the adjustment in the scope. Long story short, the mounting screws were offest to the left of the reciever by a considerable amount. Having the holes redrilled and tapped was not an option so it got traded for a 20 ga. double.

Used Weaver mediums.

Could have fit lows on it but good chance Id had to remove the rear sight for clearance.

Windage adjustable rings would have fixed it.
