Well I am definatly going to buy a new Savage 17HMR in the next day or two.
I have narrowed my choices:
GV for $280, FVSS for $319 or go all out on the BTVS for $430, all are local.
Worth the extra bucks for the BTVS or FVSS, or go plain Jane to get the job done ?
This will be a hunting rifle, I want accuracy :AR15firin
Whats your input ?

Also I looked at a couple of Savage 93's today, both stainless.
2 of the SS models had the crown uneven, exactly the same.
Target crown and then the muzzle edges were rounded off, but they were uneven, the top of the crown was beveled less.
This is a random pic of the net.
Notice were the big arrow is, on the models at the store, that area had almost no bevel. At the small arrow, the ones at the store looked like the one in this pic. I am considering buying one tomorrow, but don't want to have to recrown it. Issues ?

Bought the 93R17GV

I really like mine (had for around 6 years)... Crown is just "off" a touch ... Not like your pic...
Shoots just fine.. Easily .2-.5 at 50yds and typically < 1.00 at 100... In the 1.00 - 2.00 @ 200.
Have discovered lately that the CCI 20gr FMJ shoot amazingly well... Not just the typical 17gr v-max.

Few coyote kills... Neck. Bang flop...! Crows go DOWN with a few feathers floating around... FUN..!

I'd bet the crown is OK (meaning as accurate as mine)... Even if a touch off..
