I had few 2piece bases, I mounted one and but my sav 220 and I found out that the 2.5 x cabelas scope is too short. What scope do you on top of your 220?

Which one piece base is working for you?

Your best bet would be a one piece rail and weaver style rings (high).

I used a Warne tactical rail with high burris sig. zee rings and a Nikon 3-9 slughunter

I used an EGW 1 pc base on mine with Burris rings and a Leupold 2-7 Ultimateslam scope.

Pabear, have you had any issues with fired hulls hitting your windage scope cap upon ejection?

just fyi, the manual actually recommends high rings

My gun shop got me a one peice Weaver mount. I paid $15.00 for it. I am using med Leupold rings and a Leupold 2x7X33 scope. Works great for me! ;D

Any base(s) for a long action Savage with round rear will work (accutrigger, stevens)

Should go without saying, but make sure you get a rail-style base. Bases with only one set of slots isn't going to give you the adjust-ability you need in ring spacing to mount today's shorter scopes.

I actually had a rather lengthy discussion about this "issue" with the folks at Savage after receiving a Model 212 slug gun in for review. Basically I pointing out "Why bother including the aluminum 2-piece Weaver bases on long-actions when they're utterly useless for most any hunting scope made after around 1990? If you're going to include a base, include the Weaver 1-pc rail which will actually permit the end user to mount a scope on the darn thing."

I don't remember the number as I threw away the package. When I ordered the gun I had the gun shop order the mount as well.

Weaver # 48329, I found out the hard way not all long action accu-trigger bases from weaver work on the 220F, I purchased a #99493 tactical weaver base Long action accu-trgger that won't work because they don't cut the radius the length of the base that sits on the action, they leave a 1/16" piece uncut and the base rocks on the action. After a call to weaver they said it is supposed to be like that.
