300 win mag results with Ramshot Magnum

Has anyone tried Ramshot Magnum in their 300 WM and have any luck or recommendations with ANY bullet combo's? (I have lots of it) I have the WW 116 and have been trying the 208g Hornady A-Max's. I have heard some pretty good things about Magnum but so far, I am not thrilled with my results at all. I found that 77g gives 1.5" group at 100 yards and a half grain either side of that opens up to almost 4". Thinking of trying some other bullet combo's with Ramshot Magnum and would love to find something that works well with it. I tried it with 168g A-Max's also with not too good results where 71g IMR 4350 will print one large hole but I wasn't expecting wonders with this combo since Magnum is such a slow powder.

First off, welcome to the forum. I assume your working with a sporter barrel. Are you shooting three shot groups or five? Three shot groups will tell you all you need to know about a loads accuracy. A sporter barrel heats up fast, especially in a magnum caliber so I'd wait at least two minutes between shots.

I can't comment on your powder choice as I've never used it but have had good results with the old standbys like H4831, IMR and H4350, etc, in the 7mm mag.

I have been shooting 6 shot groups, 3 at a time with a 20 min cooling period between. Yes, I am starting to think I might need to go get me some H4831. Only thing I have tried so far is the 168g and 208g Amax. I am wondering if there is some magic somewhere inbetween with the 180-190g choices out there. Right now I am also limited to 100 yards but would really want to stretch it out quite a bit more. Yes, it is the sporter barrel. I am also wondering if it would be worth it to bite the bullet and get a prefit custom barrel that is more of a light varmint or light target version. I like to shoot (a lot). The sporter barrel does wander quite a bit when the string gets longer than 3 shots.
Anyone else with Ramshot Magnum experience or any other recommendations?

180gr TTSX

70.5gr RL-22
200gr Accubond

In my 300 WM I shoot 77.5 grns H4831, CCI mag primers, 165 Accubonds. I get 3115 from a sporter 24" barrel. My groups usually run from 1/2 -5/8 regularly.

I think I am leaning toward 4831's and RL22. Waiting for my shiny new Criterion to show up so I can start over though..... I like to shoot too much so out goes the sporter barrel and in with the varmint!
