I have been searching this forum and the internet for the info I need and I have not found the exact info. I was prepared to buy a 10 FCP-SR then I came across a 10 FCP-K barrel in .308 for $125. Owner fired about 150 handloads then switched to a .260. This will be my first long range precision bolt gun. Plenty of AR platform rifles. Plus I have plenty of .308 from my ARs.

My plan so far:
-FCP-K barrel
-B&C Medalist or Choate Tactical - Opinions & other options appreciated
-Acme Universal Mag Conversion
-Action???

The main part of the build that I could use some help with is the action. Go with a Savage Target action? Pick up a used Savage accutrigger action? Stevens 200?

Thanks

If you are going to build buy the cheapest action possible (probably a Stevens 200). I have a model 12 FV and replaced the accutrigger and barrel. Had I know that was where I was headed I would have bought a Stevens or used Savage for cheap and saved some money in the long run.

No point in going target action if you want it to feed from a magazine.

I am still learning the Savage. The barrel is a take-off from a new 10 FCP-K. So, I don't know about the shank. I am finding some complete used 10 series .223 in the 500 range or a Stevens 200 New for 320 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/14607

This being my first bolt gun, I am not looking for high end match grade. Just something to cut my teeth and learn on.
