Of the aftermarket recoil lug makers, who makes the thickest and longest lug.
I have to believe the thicker and longer the better.

Thanks

If you go to thick you don't have enough threads to headspace the barrel. The barrel nut will bottom out on the threads first.

See what happens when you watch too much porn. :D

Seriously though, what cartridge are we dealing with here? In the 9 year history of this forum I can only think of one complaint of a bent recoil lug and it was a factory one. Can't remember what it was off of, but if I had to venture a guess I'd say it was a .300 or .338 RUM

There are enough threads to allow you to upgrade to a 1/4" Heavy Duty Recoil Lug. If you go heavier than a 1/4" lug you will need to lengthen your barrel threads to allow enough space to headspace properly.

With all of the Savage Actions that I have had through my shop I have seen 3 or 4 recoil lugs that were partially bent. I have never seen one of the heavy duty (.225" to .250") bend.

I had a .300" Tubbs but it was on a nutless setup.
