Other than it being a barrel burner, anyone have any links, articles, or personal experience w/ this caliber? I just cant get away from the 6.5mm's. Looking at building a long range whitetail deer hunting rig that I will hunt out of a ladder stand with. I use my 7-08mm now, but my longest shot is approx 500 yds in an open field/ and powerlines- a shot that I would carefully choose based on conditions- wind, mirage, deer standing still, etc. - I did a 320 yd shot w/ the 7-08 on a nice 9pt opening day last season that Im finally getting the mount back. Conditions were perfect and the 7-08 did amazing, deer was big for our little NC deer, but I can get alot longer shots in these 2 places where I hunt the 1st week till they all get in the thick stuff where I use the .250 Sav. and my AR in where the shots are 80yds or so. I have an old Sweede mauser but open sites, etc. I wont hunt w/ it there. I sold the .260AI and use my 6brx for F class now. Due to a neck surgery and another one they say I need, I really don't want to use my .300 Win mag. Its kind of over kill for our deer here. Any thoughts, experience, etc?
