Hi all

My name is Bob, I'm from Thetford Mines PQ, Canada, and I will get my Savage Axis in 223 probably sometime next week. I've been reading a lot about it before I choose that gun, and I can wait to get it. The trigger was worked on a bit by the previous owner.

I also shoot a Lee Enfield in 303 british, I tried to get good result at the range with my reloads, however the gun never did better than 1 inch group. From what I read those Savage can group pretty good with reloads, this is why I got this.

I plan to redo the stock at one point, I already build wooden stock for various kind of rifle. I do understand there will be challenges, especially with magazines and recoil lug.

That's it for now !

Welcome Bob. Glad you joined.

1" with a Lee Enfield 303 is not bad at all. Had one a couple of years ago that I accurized after reading an old "how to" manual written by Canadian military competition shooters. Their methods worked quite well and the old Brit would hold 1 MOA or better fairly regularly.

Good luck with your Axis.

I have two .303s, a #1 Mk. 3 and a No. 4 Mk. 1. Love them. I also have two Edges; a .223 and a .270. The .270 brought down a caribou last week, and I was hoping to use the #1 for a moose on the same trip, but no banana. The Edges are great rifles and very accurate.

Gday Bob, I am also waiting to pick up my Savage, this one is a weather warrior in 7mm/08. Funny that you should mention the Enfields as I also have a couple of Lithgoes made around 1942 and yes they do indeed shoot very well for their eara. Nice to have heard from you, please let me know how your new Savage shoots. Regards Murphy.
