Anyone out in Savage land built a .223 wssm? If so what on what action and what barrel did you select? I have Browning A bolt chambered for this cal. would like to do a savage. Thanks!

Have a 223WSSM, and a barrel for a 6.5WSM for the same gun.
Barrels came from Midway, and I believe Shaw. It is a CRF 110

I have a 243 wssm it is a Shillen 28" bull that I have nitrided. Had a velocity increase of 150 to 200 fps in almost all loads. I love it and it shoots great.

Was velocity inc. from Nitriding barrel?

yes the increase was from nitriding. I have a 70 gr BTHP at 3900fps from 3737fps prior to nitride. 95gr berger at 3340 from 3204fps. It was odd though the 55gr BT dropped from 4123fps before to 4105 after.

If you use a wsm action, then you have a good start. Bolt head is already correct and rounds will fit the magazine.

I am building a 243 wssm right now , but already have a 223 wssm barrel also. It is a 223 Rem stock Savage barrel which someone reamed for the wssm. Do not need that barrel anymore.
