Hi guys, I live in South Florida. This year I will be hunting in West Virginia. All my loads are tuned for the heat here. I'll be hunting in weather below freezing. My question is what powders tend to be less sensitive to temp changes. I would like to be sure I have a stable load(s) before I go. I'm shooting a .234 Win and a .270 Win.

Hodgdon extreme powders are "significantly less temperature sensitive" than their non Extreme counterparts. Lot's of testing has shown this. It does not mean they are not temperature sensitive. I live at 7000' in New Mexico and all my loads are developed in warmer weather. In 26 years I have never had a problem hunting in cold weather with ammunition using Hodgdon Extreme powders developed in warmer weather. Think about factory ammunition. Manufacturers know that their ammunition will potentially be used in extreme conditions but the vast majority of times their ammunition achieves the desired results.

I've been using AA2520 and 140 Noslers in the .270 Win and I want to use RL 22 and 105 Berger VLD's in the 243 Win. Thanks for your replies.

I've had good luck with Varget and H4831sc in the 243 with heavy bullets.
