I just got a 260 rem barrel to convert my model 112. What else do I need besides the barrel?

I can find 308 brass significantly cheaper than 260 rem brass, can I just run it through my 260 FL sizer die and get shoootable brass? Are there any issues with this?

I have a shootin buddy who bought a "donor Sabage" at a gun show in .223 and did just what you are doing. I believe your going to have to swap out the bolt face because the 308\260 brass is bigger. I'm unsure about the firing pin....but I think it's the same.

For the brass, I believe he does just what you say. Of course.....when in doubt, just use Google and type in your question. Usually you will get your answer: http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1861612 Happy reading!! ;D

useing FC 308 brass, i had to turn all the necks to get it to chamber well in my 260... 708 might be easyer, or 243 necked up... u can get 243 privy brass CHEEP at grafs

I'm using 308 Lapua brass, but you'll have to neck turn it first then FL size it and fireform, the case length will be shorter then 260, but after second fireforming it will grow and on third you might consider trimming, also you can use 243 cases or 7-08. O yeah, you also need to change your extractor not just the bolthead...

lapua has 260 brass now. It is of course spendy so buy half as much and load twice as many. For some reason nobody talks much about it being available. I still see people buying lapua 308/243/ cartridges to form to 260 any one know Why?

I would say they buy it because it is cheaper.

I buy Lapua brass for my 6.5 Swede because I can reload it at least 20 times or more. And that's 1.5gr of RL-22 over the book max. (Don't you do that....or if you attempt it, work it up SLOWLY in .1gr. at a time watching for pressure signs on EVERY case!!). When I purchased Rem cases I was lucky to get 3 reloads each out of 'em...and that was at below max loads.

Is the bolt head for the 308 the same as the 30-06 bolt head?

The 30-06 & 308 boltheads are not the same. They are both .473 in front but the 308 is shorter on the tail end.
Short action and long action bolt heads are different.

weird.., I'm using 270 bolthead which is same as 30-06 and din't noticed any difference shooting 260, it extracts and ejects perfectly...
