View Full Version : Can you cut the Axis Stock?

I find the length of pull about 1/2" - 3/4" too long on my Axis.

Has anyone cut the stock down on their Axis and re-attached the recoil pad? I can't tell how the pad attaches, don't see any screws. Would it be easier to cut it down and then put on a Slip-On pad?

And what is that square hole on top of the stock 1" from the end of pad?

The factory pad attaches via the sling screw and a little push clip on the top of the stock (careful, it breaks!). I believe it could be cut down and filled with a mixture of wet cheese cloth and gorlilla glue (layer wet cloth, pour on glue, repeat til even with you new rim, then trim when it is "set"). Bondo might work also.
I have been thinking about this also for my 10 yo, since Savage doesn't make an Edge youth model.

Perhaps you can simply purchase a stock from Savage.

Huh, how about that! Never saw one up here in Alaska at Fred Meyer, Wallmart or Sportsman's Wearhouse.

Actually the "wet cheese cloth and Gorilla glue" sounds like a good idea. Bondo would be way too heavy, while dried Gorilla glue is more like expando-foam ;D

You will have to reshape the recoil pad.
