I just got my new 114 in a .270 (my first Savage) and I'm itching to test it out, but I'm already having trouble. The "black button" on the bolt that shipped with the rifle seems to be jammed in the wrong position so that it hits the top of the receiver, not allowing the bolt to close. It looks that black button should be positioned down at the bottom of the groove it's in (like in the Accutrigger diagram on this page: http://www.chuckhawks.com/hunting_rifle_triggers.htm), but I can't figure out how to get it there.

Here's a photo I took showing what I'm dealing with: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2i6z8rs&s=7

Thanks in advance for helping out a rookie.

Pete

Unscrew the bolt until its almost out but a few threads and push the button over where it should be. tighten.

Ok, I got the bolt unscrewed and I see what you're suggesting, but I can't get the button over unless I completely unthread the nut. Then, it won't rethread after I move the button over to where it should be.

just catch that button on the edge of a table or wooden work bench and push down and twist on the rear of the bolt assembly and that will get the "button" to the spot you want.
