What scope would you recommend ; 4-16X50 A/O or 6-20X50 A/O
For a Modern Bolt action 6.5x55 with 22” #2 barrel (0.670”) for shooting 200yd and 600yd ?

enough Cartridge?

I would try to find something with a side focus. Truthfully, either magnification would work.

Have a 6.5x55 (M70 Win, 2-7x scope). Loaned it to friend who took a 6x6 elk with one shot. Some people will consider it too light for anything except deer, but at closer ranges, should be good for elk.

Historically hunted where I might need to shoot at under 100 yd, so liked a 2-7x or 2.5-8x. More recently, tend to go with something like the 4-16x, but like to mount my scopes low, so tend to stay away from the 50mm's.

I'm taking my Savage in 6.5 Swede out to WY this Oct. and I have a Leupold VX-II 4-12X 40mm mounted on it. I just recently got it back from the Leupold custom shop where I had them put target turrets on it, and a custom vertical bullet turret for the bullet that my Swede shoots "the best".

I've been practicing this summer shooting at groundhogs from 300 to 600 yards with this set up and feel very confident about taking a pronghorn at long distance, even with just the 12X maximum scope.

I would suggest a Vortex Viper in 6.5-20x44mm or the 50mm(depends on you).

I would recommend a 6-18x40 Leupold VXii. Compact, lightweight, and still enough power to get done what you need.
