Well, I printed some respectable loads today at 500 and 600 yards.

Either my chrono is off by about 50fps or both ballistics programs I ran are off. I consistently hit 0.7moa high at 400, 500 and 600 yards today. I corrected with a velocity of 3100fps and things look a little more like what I was seeing in the field. Next trip I will do some fine tuning.

We found a 12" doa steel gong in the brush and set it up at 650 and had a fun time hitting it. I let a kid on the next bench over shoot the gong and some milk jugs at 400, he is hooked. Fun stuff.

Your BC number could be off on your bullet. Or, your atmospheric readings may be different. The BC is different depending on what fps you're running it at. So, if the bullet manufacturer says the bullet has a ".500" BC, you only get that BC at a specific fps.

That's the problem with ballistic calculators, there only as good as the numbers you put in them. And even then, you still have to "prove" it by actual shooting in your conditions.

Agreed, I am running my actual turret readings and will make a chart for that. I would like to be able to duplicate the numbers with the software so I can predict the results when the weather changes ie 0F this winter when checking long range targets requires a snow mobile. I would also like to have a ballpark at longer ranges. Currently the longest distance I can get at my range is 650 yards.

Do you have a personal weather station like a Kestrel? If not, you're going to be kind of guessing @ what the 'actual' conditions are as far as temp, pressure, etc. which affects your come-ups. Even then, it often takes some fiddling to get things to match up perfectly between what the ballistic programs predict and what you actually see in the real world...

The other possibility is... are your turret clicks in actual MOA, or IPHY? It does start to add up over distance.
