Benchrest Shooting at PSC Range

2011 will be used as a Startup year with the following dates assigned as match dates: Mar. 27th, May 22nd, July 24th, Sept. 25th, and Nov. 27th. I intend to use Mar. 27th as a practice day but run as a match. No fees, bring a guest and be a guest.

In an IBS long range matches, you shoot for both group and score. Except for the Nationals and some State Championships, you compete only against the others in your relay. Individual relay winners move on to a shoot-off, non-winners "wait until next time." You may not win both group and score; if you have the smallest group and highest score, you win group, the score winner is the competitor with the next highest score. 600 yards differ abit and host group and score and an agg of each for 4 targets and no shoot off. Score tie is broken by group and vice-versa.

In IBS competition, both Light Gun and Heavy Gun have a six-minute sight-in period, followed by a 10-minute period for record shots. No sighters are allowed during the record period. In the Light Gun class, the competitor fires 5 rounds at the target, in the Heavy Gun class, 10 rounds. Light Guns are those guns weighing less than 17 lbs and Heavy Guns are those guns weighing over 17 lbs. Muzzle brakes are allowed on both classes of rifles. The same rounds count for both score and group. 600 yards shoots 5 shots each record target for score, and the scores are averaged.

Each competitor shoots 4 targets for record.

Pit operation will be same as F-Class with pit operators marking spotters on sighting target during 6 minute sight-in period. No scoring spotter will be required. There will be no spotting during record fire.

At end of one relay of record fire, a pit change will be conducted with all record targets brought back to scorers. After scoring, the targets will be given back to the shooters. This is subject to change depending on the number of people that turn out to shoot.

This routine will repeat until all shooters have fired 4 targets for record.

If there is a tie for match winner, group size is used to determine the winner of the match.
