This question is for those who have a model 25, any caliber. Have a look at your barrel/action, and tell me if it says "Made In Canada" at the Lakefield, Ontario plant. Thanks.

Really? No one has a model 25?

Be patient, someone will chime in. The model 25 didn't make a big splash yet, as it is more expensive than the 10/110 series and there are no aftermarket goodies for it. The first one I had in my hands was made at Westfield, but that was a few years ago and they may have moved that line to Ontario.

Mine also is Westfield Mass. Production stamped on it. In .223 w/ thumbhole laminate. Haven't gotten an opportunity to spend quality time at the range yet. But it is a purrrty rifle. Lol

I was at the factory and saw them being built right there in western Massachusetts.

Do the barrels on Model 25 mount up with a nut, like the 10-110 series. Has anyone yet seen, or heard of someone having seen one 5.7x28 ??

No barrel nut on the Model 25

If you look at the high resolution photo on the Savage website for the Savage 25 walking varminter it shows a barrel nut. Scroll down the page and it asks you to right click on a link to see a close up of the picture.

The new offerings for this year actually have a smooth barrel nut. The previous rifles had the barrels pinned in place.

Wouldn't a left hand in this action make a good small caliber pistol? Don't see a left bolt/eject or any 25 action only available.

Would this possibly make a better platform for the 300 whisper/300-221, 300BLK?

I'd imagine being built specifically for the shorter cartridges - with a shorter bolt throw and the extraction pull length - it might resolve some of the ejection issues the SA 10 actions have.

Especially with a 5.7x28 variant being made... that case is smaller than the 300 BLK

I assume you're referring to the hi-res picture of the Walking Varminter model. What you see isn't a barrel nut, but rather a step-up in the barrel contour to match the diameter of the receiver. Given the catalog photo's are from prototype guns, I can't even say for certain that feature will make it into the production model.

I gots me a 25lvt 223 & it doesn't say anything about Canada & it shoots just fine. I can hit the 300 yard 12x16 inch metal everytime with it. Has a 4x12 leupold rifleman on it.

Savage told me that the new model does in fact have a barrel nut. Mark

Wonder how hard it would be to retro fit a barrel nut to one of the older models? I have a "classic" 25 from last year in .223, and wouldnt mind being able to put a little shorter and fatter barrel on it.
