SharpShooter,

What is the best day-in day-out accuracy you have ever gotten from an unmodified Savage centerfire rifle ?

Same question... From a Savage that you did all your tricks on ?

I have a Savage 112, old long action 22-250 and 112, single shot in .223, both will shoot 1/2 inch for 5 shots with most factory ammo, and considerable less with handloads. Not bedded, factory trigger, adjusted, Weaver and Burris Scopes.

I have an LRPV in .223, 1-9 twist first year production that I have been shooting in local matches in a factory class. I found a sweetheart load of 25 gr. of N-133 and a 52 Starke that shot phenominal when I hit the right bullet seating depth by accident. On good days, I have shot a majority of groups in the high .2s, and most of the time the aggs are in the mid .3's. On days that I don't have my head screwed on straight, like last sunday, I shot small group in the class with a .249" and a first place agg. of .439". My biggest group was .610".
Of course there are days when everything is against you and 3/4" groups will still win. Last year I shot a few score matches with the best being 249 11-X, and the worst 246 6-x.

I had a 22 BR that I used to shoot in factory modified class that was absolute killer, considering that the barrel I put on was "professionally pre seasoned " by the previous owner with over 4000 rounds through it. After a re-chamber this gun would agg in the .2's. The first 4" of barrel ahead of the chamber was smooth as baby's butt, and I had to bring a borescope to the matches with me because nobody believed it. Needless to say it's life was short though.

That barrels was the cats meow, it shot better than my 22BR, so far I have gave up on mine, maybe one day I will pick it back up.

Maybe it just needs a few more thousand through it. ;D

This pic was the first four shots out of my 110 FCP-K. The first shot was away from the group the next three grouped pretty well at 100 yards.

Not bad at all for a factory barrel I'd say ;)
