I'm using a long action BVSS stock that I have laying around as the basis for a rifle I'm building for my wife. The stock has a blind magazine and came off my 300 win mag. Will I be able to load 260 rounds into this magazine or would I be better off going with a long action cartridge such as a 25-06?

I think you might have to change mag frame & follower to a standard cartridge. I would do the 25-06. :)

If its centerfeed, I think you'd only need a 30-06 follower and you'd be good to go.

My 260 build is on a flat-back staggerfeed 110 action that originally came as a 270 Win, and it feeds perfectly from the magazine.

The magazine is centerfeed.

my first savage 110 came from factory as 243 caliber.
they did a lot of short calibers on long actions

One of the configurations I used for hunting was

orginally a 7mm Rem Mag, centerfeed with a barrel replacement to 30-06. I Loaded one in the chamber and one in the magazine and it worked fine. The wider feed rails would not support 2 in the magazine, so I settled on a 2 shot rifle and kept a couple handy in a pocket.

Now, If I use this stock/mag combination with my 6.5x284, it works well with more than 1 in the magazine due to the slightly larger diameter cartridge.
