Anybody tried any of the Weaver one piece tactical bases yet?

I'm using one on a 16FCSS in .223 Remington with Weaver 6-Hole rings (http://www.weaveroptics.com/rings_bases/mounting_systems/tactical_6-hole_rings/)

to hold a Weaver 4-20x50 Mil-Dot Riflescope with a 30 mm tube (http://www.weaveroptics.com/optics/tactical/), a front focal plane optic.

The combination works fine. My plan is to get another multi-slot base for my 12VSS in .308 Remington, also a short action, to facilitate switching the scope over for those times I want to bruise my shoulder.

I put them on for customers almost daily and not one complaint yet. Many of them need the front portion that hangs over the recoil lug to be removed in order for the scope bell to clear. Minor mod and they seem to work great. I have yet to try one personally however.

Thanks for the info.

I think I am going to order a couple of one piece bases and a couple sets of rings.

A bit late, here's a photo of my setup: I'm using one on a 16FCSS in .223 Remington with Weaver 4-20x50 Mil-Dot Riflescope with a 30 mm tube, Weaver 6-Hole rings on a Weaver Multi Slot Base:

Well, I have been searching online for the best price.

Interesting observation...the MSRP listed on Weaver's website is about $10 less than I can find them for sale.

I like the idea of only have 45-60 invested in a set of bases and rings that WILL hold....versus $100 and up.

Anybody know where to purchase the base and rings at the lowest cost?

5 wire - what height of rings are you using with that 50 mm tube?

I asked Weaver: "Use #48356 rings with the 50mm, #48350 rings with the 40mm model," (referring to the 50 mm objective lens and 40 mm objective lens, respectively.)

Base: Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Weaver-Multi-Slot-Base-System-Trigger/dp/B001H8WSBS/ref=sr_1_8?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1310782077&sr=1-8) $16.06.

Rings: Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Weaver-Tactical-Quality-Excellent-Performance/dp/B004987XIQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1310782356&sr=1-1) $44.60/pr.

I have Amazon prime, so I ordered from them, shipping was included. You can order them from Weaver, direct.

Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Weaver-Extended-Multi-Slot-Base-Savage/dp/B0049IUS38/ref=pd_sbs_sg_2) $27.99 for that one.

I got the Weaver extended tactical 20MOA base for my 10FP from Amazon for $27.99; it showed up in the mail today.

Not sure how it compares to the EGW base, but it looks good and installed easily. It was a bit difficult getting Signature Zee rings installed (VERY tight tolerances on the rail, took lots of wiggling to get them into place) but it looks good and seems quite secure.

With medium Sig Zee rings and the Weaver 20MOA base, my Monarch 5-20x44 has approx. 0.3" clearance between the barrel & objective.

I've encounered tight fitting of the Burris Signature rings on an EGW base. I slowly tapped them into place and was good to go.

Just sent the one I received back to Midway.

The mounting holes were not aligned with the receiver and the torque screw heads were a little undersized versus the recessed areas on the mount.

NOT aligned with the receiver.....my bad.

I'm confused as to the problem.

You'd like bigger screws, I get that...but what's wrong with the mounting holes? Don't you WANT them aligned with the receiver?

I've got one and I really liked it but it was a 20MOA base and the scope that I had it under did not have quite enough adjustment to get a zero at 100 yds with it installed. Went back to an EGW as a result. I've got a new scope coming with a good bit more adjustment and I'll probably go back to the Weaver base once it arrives.
