I just picked up a 7mm Mag in a 116, and was wondering it the longer 7 STW will work in the Savage action.

The STW will work, but you may not be able to use it as a repeater. Is your rifle stagger or center feed?

The STW can do everything the 7mm mag can, but faster.

It is an older stagger feed, with the green laminate stock.

The stagger feed is going to limit your mag box length.

Numrich has 7mm STW savage barrels for like $70.00.

Back in the late 90's I had a LH Tactical rechambered from 7mm mag to 7 STW. The gunsmith ground back the bolt stop and spliced two magazine boxes together and I am able to use it as a repeater. No big surprise it is an incredible shooter. I recorded my best all time 100 yd group with it, three shots into 0.14". It routinely shoots under half inch.
