Can be done rather easy. You'll need a .473" ( 25-06, 30-06, 270, etc.) sized bolt head and a 30-06 type magazine and you're set to go, or a SSS single shot follower if a Single shot will work for you.
to turn the 300win mag to 22-240

yup, you may have to mess witht the 30-06 mag just a bit, but shouldn't be too bad, you could also shim in a 22-250 mag into the stock if you prefer. But the easiest way is a 30-06 bolthead and a Single shot follower.
so all i will need is this kit http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=234918 and a .473" head and the mag parts

yeah pretty much. I would think about a 1-12 or a 1-9 twist instead of the 1-14 twist of that kit. The 14 twist kind of limits you a bit unless you are always going to shoot lighter bullets with no plans of ever going heavier than 50 or maybe 55gr.
I guess I should have asked if the mag is a Centerfeed or a Stagger Feed? Will make a difference on what parts you get. Other than that, yes the kit and a .473" bolt face for a Long Action (30-06) and you are set.
Remember too you can become a paid member and sell off your old parts here in the classifieds and make some money back, the Magnum bolt head, the 300WM magazine, and barrel.
thanks for the info and i just may do that
