View Full Version : Weak extraction/ejection after installing new lug.

Hey Guys,

I just finished resetting my headspace and installing a NSS recoil lug on my Model 12 LVP in .308. This all went well, I closed on the go gauge with a slight amount of resistance and added a piece of scotch tape to the rear of the go gauge (.0025"), trimmed off the excess and it would not close on it. Removed the tape and closed same as before.

One thing that I noticed was that the extractor did not want to hold the go gauge. It would hold it but weakly. It did slip off the bolt face once but I caught it and the ball and spring did not come out.

But I've noticed that after reinstalling the ejector plunger, the ejection is not as crisp as before. It will hold the round and eject but I have to run the bot with more gusto to get it to kick out. The ejector spring did come out and I stuck it back in without regard to direction.

Is there a wrong way to install this spring? Also, I didn't notice which way the plunger retaining pin came out and just put it back in as well.

Thanks,
Paul

The ejector spring can go in either way, but the ejector plunger has to go in short side first to work correctly.

I checked it and it's installed correctly. What's the fix?
