Just returned from a Montana prarie dog hunt with my Savage long range precision varminter rifle chambered in 6mm bench rest. This rifle has a 1 in 12 twist. and I was using Barnes 62 grain Varmint grenades, B.C. of .199 The varmint grenade performed admirably. For my next trip i would like to try a bullet with the best (highest) ballistic coefficient that the 1 in 12 twist will handle. I am thinking about using Hornadys 87 grain Vmax with a B.C. of .400 My question to the membership is , will the 1:12 twist stabilize this bullet ? Hoping for an answer based on experience, however all input is appreciated.
