Does anyone know the exact weight of the model 12 target action in "Standard Caliber Bolt Head Right-bolt, right-port"? I need to know the actual weight of the action, trigger, trigger guard and recoil lug. I am building up a standard class silhouette rifle and need to stay under 10lbs 2oz fully dressed with scope/rings. I'll be screwing on a Shilen barrel (7mm-08) that will be somewhere around 5 pounds. So that leaves me about another 5 pounds for the action, stock and scope.

Scope rings = 1lb 2oz
Stock = 2lbs 13oz
Barrel = 5lbs

So that leaves me about 1lb 3oz left over for the target action. I'm guessing that it is a little more than that so I'll need to shave some weight from the stock and barrel. I may have to go with a 24" barrel vs. the 26".

It's going to be more than 1# 3oz. I weighed a complete standard short action I have here and it's a hair over 2#.

Ok, thank you! Looks like I will have to go synthetic on the stock and shave weight there. Also, if I go 24" on the barrel instead of 26" I should save considerable weight.

what scope and rings are you using? that seems light.

I use fixed power Leupold 24x competition scopes. The fixed power scopes are a bit lighter than the variables at about 14oz. Aluminum rings ought to bring me in at around the 1lb 2oz to 1lb 5oz range.
