Greetings!

I recently acquired a model 99 from my father-in-law which has a continual jamming problem. The gun has the rotary magazine, and it jams one or two rounds regularly. I have tried shortening the cases from 2.60" to about 2.57" and this sometimes helps a bit, but still unsatisfactory.

Anyone have this problem or any ideas?

A couple of basic questions first:

Does the gun jam with factory ammunition?
Have you cleaned the rotary magazine? Does it revolve smoothly?
Have you checked the feed ramp for any dings, dirt, or obstructions?
If, as it appears, you're are using reloads, what bullets are you using? Hollow points sometimes hang up.

If I had to make a quick guess, I would suspect the rotary magazine spring.

The gun jams with factory ammunition.
Rotary magazine is clean and revolves smoothly.
Feed ramp looks OK.
I'm using spire point or round nose bullets with equal un-success

Where do I get a magazine spring?

Thanks for your help!

Never seen that happen before without it being the rotary mag.

You can get the parts you need from Numrichs most likely.

Thanks!

I'll try them.

Are the rounds jamming while trying to be pushed into the chamber? If that's the case the bullets may have to be shortened even more. My model 99 in 30-30 has a very short stroke as compared to my model 94. To use the same load on both guns I had to really shorten the overall cartridge length to be able to feed into the model 99.
