This is a link to my 458 Lott build off of a savage long action originally chambered for 300 win. It is a richards stock and McGowan barrel. I am still having some magazine issues. BUt it shoots decent. I am just starting to play with different loads.

Nice, I have heard the 458 lott is one of the more accurate big bores. couple guys are trying it in handguns.

I am shooting a Lott in a handgun. Using 3031 as the powder of choice.

Curious about the eye relief on that scope you are using. When I had a 458 in a rifle I had to take off the scope cap like yours as that hinge bit my eyebrow.
The scope minus cap is on my 416.

A 458 Lott in a handgun...well, that must be an experience. I have not had a problem with my scope caps except the front one fell off once due to recoil. I shot a 3/4 or so group with 80 grains of 4895 behind a 500 g. hornady RN this past weekend.

I am with you on that Hammer, had the same setup on a .375 and that hinge sticks out an extra 1/4" behind the scope. It took me a third shot from the bench to notice that thing was just barely touching my eyebrow evertime. I figured that is way too close and consistant to leave there.

It comes close, but I have started shooting wearing my glasses and I have not been thumped hard on the glasses yet. I hold the butt tight to my shoulder though so it moves my whole upper body when shooting from the bench. The Lott has a lot of recoil. It does not bruise myshoulder like my 7RUM though.
