I bought a bag of Winchester brass for my 06 and it takes a lot of force to get the primer seated in far enuff using a press.

Do I need to drill out the primer pockets or what?

first question is what primers? If wolf or Tula primers they are a little bigger (maybe half thousandth) so they are going to be tighter. US made primers should be snug but not needing unusual force to seat them.
Now if they are not seating all the way down you might want to run a uniforming tool thru them.

I ran into the same thing with Hornady 204 Ruger brass. I can't even get my uniforming tool to enter the primer pocket w/o jamming up.

Had the same problem with Hrn 308 brass, but eventually got them opened enough to uniform them.

CCI 200 primers.

So I can just force them in with the press or what?

The primers will still seat, it just takes more effort than normal. I cut my primer pockets (even on the super tight Winchester brass) and primer seating is noticeably easier. The pocket only needs to be done once and your good to go with that lot of brass.

I ran into this a little with some older '06 brass.
Yes, CCI's are a larger diameter. If you want a trick that helps to start seating them. Get the Lee chamfer tool, looks like a pointed thimble. Twist it in the primer pocket, LIGHTLY!! Just "un-square" the mouth.

They go in about 3/4 of the way and then it gets really tough takes some mad force to get them all the way.

Thats odd, I have no issue seating my CCI 200 primers in my 30-06 brass.
